Abstract Name : Melisa Safitri Student No : 1606102020008 Study Program : English Language Education Title : The Effectiveness of Directed Reading Thinking Activity (DRTA) Strategy In Teaching Reading Comprehension (A Library Research) Keywords : Directed Reading Thinking Activity (DRTA), Reading Comprehension. This research aims to find out how Directed Reading Thinking Activity (DRTA) strategy improve students’ reading comprehension. The method of this study is library research and the data attached in this research are obtained from previous works of the researchers and some literature sources include journals and books. The data analysis technique includes the process of data identification from relevant literature sources, determining where the data are located, obtaining the data, evaluating the data, and incorporating the data into the research presentation. The results of this study show that the students’ reading comprehension skills were improved after they were give the treatment of DRTA strategy using three basic stages of DRTA (Predicting, Reading, and Proving). The results were proven by the students’ test score and the implementation of DRTA strategy can help students overcome their reading problems. To sum up, the DRTA strategy is considered as an effective teaching strategy that can improve students’ reading comprehension skills.
