Pemahaman matematis siswa pada materi persamaan garis lurus di kelas VIII/9
SMP Negeri 2 Banda Aceh masih tergolong rendah. Banyak siswa mengalami
kesulitan dalam menyelesaikan soal-soal persamaan garis lurus karena belum
sepenuhnya memahami konsep dasar materi tersebut. Penelitian ini bertujuan
untuk mendeskripsikan proses penyelesaian pemahaman matematis siswa-siswi
kelas VIII/9 pada materi persamaan garis lurus. Penelitian ini menggunakan
pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif dengan subjek penelitian siswa kelas VIII/9 SMP
Negeri 2 Banda Aceh. Data dikumpulkan melalui soal-soal yang mengukur
kemampuan pemahaman matematis siswa terhadap materi persamaan garis lurus.
Teknik analisis data yang digunakan meliputi reduksi data, penyajian data, dan
penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: (1) siswa dengan
kategori pemahaman tinggi mampu menjawab semua indikator yang diberikan
pada soal matematika persamaan garis lurus dengan benar (2) siswa dengan
kategori pemahaman matematis sedang hanya dapat memenuhi tiga indikator,
yaitu menyatakan ulang sebuah konsep, mengklasifikasikan objek-objek menurut
sifat tertentu, dan memberikan contoh serta non-contoh (3) siswa dengan kategori
pemahaman matematis rendah hanya mampu memenuhi satu indikator, yaitu
menyatakan ulang sebuah konsep.Penelitian ini menunjukkan pentingnya
penerapan strategi pembelajaran yang lebih efektif untuk meningkatkan
pemahaman siswa terhadap materi persamaan garis lurus.

ABSTRACT NURJANNAH (2025) “Students' Mathematical Understanding of Straight Line Equation Material for Class VIII of SMP Negeri 2 Banda Aceh” [Skripsi Universitas Syiah Kuala]. Under the guidance of Dr. Usman, S.Pd., M.Pd and Khairul Umam, S.Si., M.A.EdSc The mathematical understanding of students on the topic of linear equations in Class VIII/9 at SMP Negeri 2 Banda Aceh is still relatively low. Many students face difficulties in solving linear equation problems due to an incomplete understanding of the fundamental concepts of the topic. This study aims to describe the process of achieving mathematical understanding among the students of Class VIII/9 on the topic of linear equations. The research employs a qualitative descriptive approach, with the research subjects being students of Class VIII/9 at SMP Negeri 2 Banda Aceh. Data were collected through problems designed to measure students' mathematical understanding of linear equations. Data analysis techniques include data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings of the study indicate that: (1) students with a high level of understanding were able to answer all indicators presented in the linear equation problems correctly (2) students with a moderate level of mathematical understanding could only fulfill three indicators: restating a concept, classifying objects based on specific properties, and providing examples and non-examples (3) students with a low level of mathematical understanding were only able to fulfill one indicator: restating a concept.This study highlights the importance of implementing more effective teaching strategies to improve students' understanding of linear equation concepts.
