Penelitian ini mengkaji efektivitas penggunaan teknologi augmented reality (AR) dalam meningkatkan pemahaman membaca di kalangan siswa EFL, khususnya siswa kelas X-1 di SMAN 1 Darussalam. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain penelitian kuantitatif pra-eksperimental dengan 28 siswa sebagai sampel kelompok eksperimen. Hasil data dianalisis menggunakan uji normalitas, uji Wilcoxon signed rank, dan uji efek ukuran korelasi Pearson. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan peningkatan yang signifikan pada skor pemahaman membaca siswa setelah integrasi AR (p < 0.05), dengan ukuran efek yang besar (r = 0.75). AR membuat proses pembelajaran menjadi lebih interaktif dan membantu siswa mengatasi tantangan kosakata dan pemahaman. Temuan penelitian ini mendukung integrasi AR dalam kelas membaca bahasa Inggris untuk meningkatkan keterampilan pemahaman membaca. Penelitian ini menyarankan agar studi masa depan menggunakan sampel yang lebih besar, durasi penelitian yang lebih lama, dan menggunakan data kualitatif untuk generalisasi temuan yang lebih luas.

This study explored the efficacy of using augmented reality (AR) technology in improving reading comprehension among EFL students, namely X-1 students at SMAN 1 Darussalam. It used a quantitative pre-experimental research design where 28 students participated as samples of the experimental group. Data results were analyzed with normality test, Wilcoxon signed rank test, and Pearson correlation effect size test. The result of this study showed a significant increasement in students’ reading comprehension scores after AR integration (p < 0.05), with a large effect size (r = 0.75). AR made instructional process became more interactive and it helped students overcome vocabulary and comprehension challenges. The findings of this research support the integration of AR in English reading classroom to improve reading comprehension skills. This research suggests for future studies to use larger samples, longer durations of research, and use qualitative data for broader generalization of findings.
