Model pembelajaran memainkan peran penting dalam mendukung proses belajar mengajar. Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition (CIRC) adalah salah satu model pembelajaran yang dapat digunakan dalam pengajaran menulis. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji apakah penggunaan model pembelajaran CIRC dapat meningkatkan keterampilan menulis siswa EFL pada kelas XI di MAN 1 Banda Aceh. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan desain pre-eksperimental berupa one group pretest and posttest. Sampel dalam penelitian ini adalah 35 siswa kelas XI-5 Ilmu Pengetahuan Alam (IPA) MAN 1 Banda Aceh. Data dikumpulkan melalui tes tertulis. Hasil tes dianalisis menggunakan IBM SPSS 22. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan model pembelajaran CIRC dapat secara signifikan meningkatkan keterampilan menulis siswa EFL pada kelas XI di MAN 1 Banda Aceh. Hasil perhitungan menunjukkan bahwa nilai rata-rata pretest siswa adalah 57,97, sedangkan nilai rata-rata posttest adalah 76,54. Selain itu, hasil analisis statistik menunjukkan bahwa nilai t hitung lebih besar dari t tabel (6,63 > 2,03). Artinya, Ha diterima dan Ho ditolak. Model pembelajaran ini membuat proses belajar menjadi lebih menyenangkan dan mengasyikkan bagi siswa. Kesimpulannya, penggunaan model pembelajaran CIRC memiliki dampak yang signifikan terhadap keterampilan menulis siswa EFL pada kelas XI di MAN 1 Banda Aceh.
Learning models play an important role in supporting the process of teaching and learning. Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition (CIRC) is one of the learning models that can be used in teaching writing. This study aims to examine whether or not the use of the CIRC learning model is able to improve EFL students’ writing skill at the second grade of MAN 1 Banda Aceh. This research used the quantitative approach with a pre-experimental design with one group pretest and posttest. The sample of this study was 35 students of class XI-5 Natural Science (IPA) MAN 1 Banda Aceh. The data were collected by using the written test. The results of the test were analysed by using IBM SPSS 22. The results of this study indicated that the use of the CIRC learning model can significantly improve EFL students’ writing skill at the second grade of MAN 1 Banda Aceh. The calculation results showed that the mean score of students’ pretests was 57.97, and the mean score of the posttest was 76.54. In addition, the results of the statistical analysis show that the t count value is greater than the t-table (6.63 > 2.03). It means that Ha was accepted and Ho was rejected. The learning model makes students more enjoyable and fun in learning process. In conclusion, using the CIRC learning model has a significant impact on EFL students’ writing skill at the second grade of MAN 1 Banda Aceh.
