Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah terdapat peningkatan keterampilan menulis esai argumentatif setelah diterapkannya Project Based Learning (PjBL) pada mahasiswa. Penelitian ini dilakukan pada mahasiswa yang mengambil mata kuliah Essay Writing pada semester genap tahun ajaran 2023/2024 di Universitas Syiah Kuala. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah deskriptif kuantitatif dengan desain one group pretest posttest design. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tidak terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan pada nilai esai argumentatif sebelum dan sesudah PjBL diberikan. Hal ini disebabkan oleh nilai t yang diperoleh sebesar 0,730, artinya lebih besar dari 0,05 sehingga H0 diterima dan Ha ditolak. Penelitian ini merekomendasikan agar penelitian tentang PjBL dalam keterampilan menulis dikembangkan dengan menggunakan metode dan desain penelitian yang lain untuk mendapatkan hasil yang lebih rinci. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah bahwa penerapan PjBL tidak memiliki pengaruh yang signifikan terhadap keterampilan menulis esai argumentatif mahasiswa. This study aims to determine whether there is an improvement in argumentative essay writing skills after the implementation of Project Based Learning (PjBL) on students. This study was conducted on students who took the Essay Writing course in the even semester of the 2023/2024 academic year at Syiah Kuala University. The research method used was descriptive quantitative with a one group pretest posttest design. The results showed that there was no significant difference in argumentative essay scores before and after PjBL was given. This is caused by the t value obtained is 0.730, meaning it is greater than 0.05 so that H0 is accepted and Ha is rejected. This study recommends that research on PjBL in writing skills be developed using other research methods and designs to obtain more detailed results. The conclusion of this study is that the application of PjBL does not have a significant effect on students’ argumentative essay writing skills.
