ABSTRACT Name : Cut Juliandari Student Number : 1506102020048 Study Program : English Education Tittle : The Use Of Small Group Discussion In Teaching Reading Comprehension ( An Experimental Study at The Eight Grade of SMP N 1 Darul Imarah ). Keywords : Reading Comprehension, Small Group Discussion The aims of this study were: 1) to find out whether the use of small group discussions improved students' reading skills at SMP Negeri 1 Darul Imarah, 2) to find out students' perspectives on small group discussions in improving students' reading skills at SMP Negeri 1 Darul Imarah. This research was conducted in class VIII-6 with 27 students. The research data used is an experimental quantitative research. The results showed that the post-test scores obtained by the students were higher than the pre-test scores. This can be seen from the average student pre-test result is 26.27 and the average student post-test result is 49.99. Morever, the analysis of t-test showed that t-score > t-table ( 332,42 > 2,05 ) at the level significance 0,05 with the degree of freedom (df) is 26. It can be concluded that there is an increase in student learning outcomes in students' reading skills before and after the small group discussion learning model is applied.
