Abstract Name : Viky Nur Hakim Student No. : 1706102020058 Study Program : English Education Title : EFL Students’ Strategies in Overcoming Anxiety in Speaking English (An Quantitative Study at English Education Department of Universitas Syiah Kuala) Keywords: Strategies, Overcoming Anxiety, Speaking English This study was conducted to know the strategies students use according to Kondo & Yin-Ling’s Strategies to overcome anxiety in speaking English at the English Education Department of the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education of Syiah Kuala Univesity in the Academic Year of 2021/2022. The research design was Descriptive quantitative. To gather the data, the researcher distributed questionnaires. The questionnaire questions were adapted from Kondo and Yin-Ling (2004). The number of samples is 100 students from a total of 124 using Purposive Sampling. This research used the Likert Scale to analyse the results of the questionnaire. The study's result revealed that the dominant students used the Relaxation strategy to overcome anxiety. The percentage of the students who applied the Relaxation strategy was 77,07%, other students who used the Positive Thinking strategy was 76,47%, the preparation strategy was 74,00%, the Peer Seeking strategy was 63,67%, and the Resignation strategy was 50,80%. Those strategies positively impact the students in learning English, especially in speaking English subjects.
