Title : Teaching Speaking SKill through Group Work Activities for
Junior High School Students

The objective of this study is to look at some given theories and research findings on the use of group work technique in teaching reading. Reading is very important for students in learning English as foreign language. However, the students sometimes get difficulties in comprehending the text in learning reading. In doing so, the teacher should apply the appropriate technique in teaching reading. The study showed that the use of group work technique could increasingly motivate and help students learn for better text understanding. Besides, group work is very effective in raising academic achievement because the students have chance to exchange their ideas in doing task. Therefore, the results of this study can be used as a treatment model in teaching reading. This study employs library research, which was conducted through the readings in library and the internet. Readings obtained were then processed and described systematically.
