Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh strategi (Baca, Periksa, Putuskan, Tulis) dengan dukungan teman sebaya terhadap prestasi siswa dalam pemahaman membaca serta tanggapan mereka terhadap penerapan strategi tersebut. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuantitatif dengan desain kuasi-eksperimen satu grup pre-test dan post-test. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas dua MAS Al-Manar Aceh Besar. Sampel yang dipilih adalah kelas A yang terdiri dari 30 siswa. Tes dan angket digunakan sebagai instrumen untuk mengumpulkan data penelitian. Data dianalisa menggunakan SPSS 21 versi Cohen (1988). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa strategi (Baca, Periksa, Putuskan, Tulis) dengan dukungan teman sebaya memiliki pengaruh yang signifikan terhadap prestasi siswa dalam pemahaman membaca di mana skor rata-rata post-test adalah 23 poin lebih tinggi dari skor pre-test dan nilai Cohen's d yaitu 1,948 lebih besar dari 0,8 . Selanjutnya, siswa menanggapi positif penerapan strategi tersebut yang sebagian besar mereka setuju dengan pernyataan yand ada pada angket. Kesimpulannya, strategi (Baca, Periksa, Putuskan, Tulis) dengan dukungan teman sebaya secara signifikan mempengaruhi prestasi siswa dalam pemahaman membaca serta penerapan strategi tersebut mendapatkan tanggapan positif dari siswa. Oleh karena itu, disarankan agar strategi (Baca, Periksa, Putuskan, Tulis) dengan dukungan teman sebaya agar dapat diterapkan dalam kegiatan pembelajaran pemahaman membaca.

The research aimed at investigating the effect of REDW (Read, Examine, Decide, Write) Strategy with peer support on students’ achievement in reading comprehension and their responses towards the implementation of the strategy. This research employed a quantitative method with quasi-experimental of one group pre-test and post-test design. The population was all the second-year students of MAS Al-Manar Modern Islamic Boarding School. The sample chosen was class A which consisted of 30 students. Test and questionnaires were used as instruments to collect data. The data were analyzed using SPSS 21 version by Cohen (1988). The findings indicated that the REDW Strategy with peer support has a significant effect on students’ achievement in reading comprehension in which the post-test average score is 23 points higher than the pre-test score and the Cohen's d value which is 1,948 greater than 0.8. Furthermore, the students responded positively to the implementation of the strategy which they mostly agreed with the questionnaire statements. In conclusion, the REDW strategy with peer support significantly affects students’ achievement in reading comprehension and gain the positive responses. Therefore, it is suggested that the REDW strategy with peer support should be implemented in teaching of reading comprehension.
