Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi dari pentingnya kepemimpinan dalam pembinaan kedisiplinan santri di pondok pesantren. Meski pesantren dikenal sebagai lembaga pendidikan yang menekankan karakter dan nilai-nilai Islam, masih terdapat permasalahan kedisiplinan santri dalam praktiknya, seperti keterlambatan shalat berjamaah, ketidakhadiran di halaqah tahfizh, ketidakkonsistenan mengikuti jadwal harian, dan pelanggaran peraturan asrama. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa penting untuk meneliti peran kepemimpinan dalam merancang dan melaksanakan pembinaan kedisiplinan santri, khususnya di jenjang MTsT dan MAT yang memiliki karakteristik santri yang berbeda. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis perencanaan, pelaksanaan, dan tantangan kepemimpinan pondok pesantren dalam membina kedisiplinan santri di MTsT dan MAT Daarut Tahfizh Al-Ikhlas Banda Aceh. Metode yang digunakan adalah penelitian kualitatif dengan pendekatan deskriptif. Data dikumpulkan melalui observasi langsung, wawancara mendalam, dan studi dokumentasi terhadap 15 informan yang dipilih secara purposif, termasuk Wakil Mudir, Musrif/musyrifah, Guru, dan Santri. Data dianalisis menggunakan perangkat lunak NVivo 15 melalui koding terbuka, aksial, dan selektif, serta divalidasi dengan triangulasi sumber, triangulasi teknik, dan member checking. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perencanaan dilakukan secara partisipatif melalui forum musyawarah yang melibatkan seluruh komponen pesantren, dengan fokus pada pengaturan aturan. Pelaksanaan kepemimpinan berorientasi pada keteladanan, sementara tantangan yang ada terdiri dari keterbatasan fasilitas, kepadatan jadwal, dan pengaruh lingkungan. Secara keseluruhan, kepemimpinan di Pesantren Daarut Tahfizh Al-Ikhlas telah beradaptasi dan sejalan dengan nilai-nilai Islam, namun masih perlu peningkatan dalam aspek infrastruktur dan perencanaan strategis.

This study was motivated by the importance of leadership in fostering student discipline within pesantren (Islamic boarding schools). Although pesantren are widely recognized as educational institutions that emphasize character building and Islamic values, disciplinary issues among students still occur in practice, including tardiness to congregational prayers, absence from halaqah tahfizh (Qur'an memorization study group) sessions, inconsistent adherence to daily schedules, and violations of dormitory regulations. These conditions highlight the need to examine the role of leadership in designing and implementing student discipline development programs, particularly at the Integrated Islamic Junior High School (MTsT) and the Integrated Islamic Senior High School) MAT levels are characterized by students with differing developmental and educational backgrounds. Therefore, this study aimed to analyze the planning, implementation, and leadership challenges associated with fostering student discipline at MTsT and MAT Daarut Tahfizh Al-Ikhlas in Banda Aceh. This study employed a qualitative research design using a descriptive approach. Data were collected through direct observation, in-depth interviews, and document analysis involving 15 purposively selected informants, including the wakil mudir (vice director), musrif/musyrifah (dormitory supervisors), teachers, and students. The data were analyzed using NVivo 15 software, employing open, axial, and selective coding procedures, and were validated through source triangulation, technique triangulation, and member checking. The findings revealed that disciplinary development planning was conducted participatively through deliberative forums involving all components of the pesantren, with a primary focus on formulating and regulating rules. Leadership implementation focused on exemplary conduct and role modeling, while challenges included limited facilities, dense schedules, and environmental influences. Overall, leadership at Daarut Tahfizh Al-Ikhlas Islamic Boarding School has demonstrated adaptability and alignment with Islamic values. However, further improvements are still needed, particularly in infrastructure development and strategic planning.
