ABSTRAK

Sekolah adalah tempat yang berperan penting dalam pembentukan karakter dan perilaku siswa. Salah satu aspek penting yang perlu diperhatikan di lingkungan sekolah adalah kesehatan siswa. Kepala sekolah memiliki peran sentral dalam memastikan program sekolah sehat terlaksana dengan baik. Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis kinerja manajerial kepala sekolah dalam penyelenggaraan program sekolah sehat terhadap pengembangan perilaku sehat pada siswa di SMA Negeri Bukit Bener Meriah. Pendekatan penelitian menggunakan desain Research and Development (R&D) level 1 dengan metode kualitatif (Analisis data menggunakan NVivo). Teknik pengumpulan data melalui observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi pada 12 informan (kepala sekolah, guru, guru BK, pembina UKS, koordinator/pembina GSS, dan siswa). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan: (1) Program kinerja manajerial kepala sekolah efektif, namun evaluasi belum sistematis. (2) Pelaksanaan program sehat berjalan efektif, terstruktur, dan berdampak positif terhadap pembiasaan PHBS siswa, meski menghadapi kendala partisipasi siswa, keterbatasan fasilitas, dan anggaran. (3) Keberhasilan didukung kepemimpinan visioner, keterlibatan warga sekolah, dan kerja sama dengan instansi kesehatan, tetapi masih terkendala minimnya pelatihan, peran UKS yang belum optimal, serta kesadaran siswa yang bervariasi. (4) Secara keseluruhan kinerja manajerial kepala sekolah tergolong efektif, namun monitoring, evaluasi berbasis data, pelibatan orang tua, dan dukungan fasilitas masih perlu ditingkatkan. Penelitian ini memberikan implikasi penting bagi sekolah, orang tua, dan instansi terkait untuk memperkuat program sekolah sehat melalui peningkatan fasilitas, pelatihan, partisipasi, serta evaluasi berbasis data demi pengembangan perilaku hidup bersih dan sehat siswa.

THE MANAGERIAL PERFORMANCE OF SCHOOL PRINCIPALS IN IMPLEMENTING HEALTHY SCHOOL PROGRAMS AND ITS INFLUENCE ON THE DEVELOPMENT OF HEALTHY BEHAVIORS AMONG STUDENTS AT STATE SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL BUKIT, BENER MERIAH ABSTRACT (Wahyu Lita Sari) Schools play a vital role in shaping students’ character and behavior. One crucial aspect that must be emphasized in the school environment is students’ health. The principal holds a central role in ensuring the effective implementation of a healthy school program. This study aims to analyze the principal’s managerial performance in implementing the healthy school program and its impact on the development of healthy behaviors among students at State Senior High School (SMAN) Bukit, Bener Meriah. The research employed a Research and Development (R&D) Level 1 design using a qualitative method, with data analyzed through NVivo. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation involving 12 informants, including the principal, teachers, guidance and counseling teachers, school health unit (UKS) supervisors, the Healthy School Movement (GSS) coordinators, and students. The findings revealed that: (1) The principal’s managerial performance program was effective, although evaluation activities were not yet systematic; (2) The implementation of the healthy school program was effective, structured, and positively influenced students’ habituation to clean and healthy living behaviors (PHBS), despite challenges in student participation, limited facilities, and budget constraints; (3) Program success was supported by visionary leadership, the involvement of school members, and collaboration with health institutions, yet constrained by insufficient training, suboptimal roles of the UKS, and varying levels of student awareness; and (4) Overall, the principal’s managerial performance was classified as effective, though data-based monitoring and evaluation, parental involvement, and facility support still require improvement. This study has important implications for schools, parents, and related institutions, suggesting that they strengthen healthy school programs through enhanced facilities, training, participation, and data-based evaluation to promote the development of clean, healthy living behaviors among students.
