ABSTRAK: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi jenis-jenis tindak tutur direktif dan fungsinya seperti yang digunakan oleh karakter utama dalam film Turning Red. Data dikumpulkan melalui metode dokumentasi dan observasional, dengan fokus pada ucapan karakter. Analisis didasarkan pada teori Yule (2006) untuk jenis-jenis tindak tutur direktif dan teori Sumarlam (2019) untuk fungsinya. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa lima jenis tindak tutur direktif—permintaan, perintah, saran, nasihat, dan penawaran semuanya hadir dalam film, dengan perintah dan nasihat menjadi yang paling dominan. Dalam hal fungsi, empat kategori diidentifikasi: kolaboratif, kompetitif, ramah, dan konfliktif. Temuan tersebut mengungkapkan bahwa fungsi kolaboratif muncul paling sering, yang menunjukkan kecenderungan karakter utama untuk membangun kerja sama dan saling pengertian dalam komunikasi. Penelitian ini menyoroti bagaimana tindak tutur direktif tidak hanya mencerminkan maksud pembicara tetapi juga memainkan peran penting dalam membentuk interaksi sosial dan pengembangan naratif dalam konteks multikultural.

ABSTRACT: This study aims to identify the types of directive speech acts and their functions as used by the main character in the Turning Red movie. The data were collected through documentation and observational methods, focusing on the character’s utterances. The analysis was based on Yule’s (2006) theory for the types of directive speech acts and Sumarlam’s (2019) theory for their functions. The results showed that the five types of directive speech acts—requests, commands, suggestions, advice, and offers were all present in the film, with command and advice being the most dominant. In terms of function, four categories were identified: collaborative, competitive, convivial, and conflictive. The findings revealed that collaborative functions appeared most frequently, indicating the main character’s tendency to build cooperation and mutual understanding in communication. This study highlights how directive speech acts not only reflect the speaker's intent but also play a significant role in shaping social interactions and narrative development in a multicultural context.
