Steam Coil merupakan komponen penting dalam sistem pemanas mixing tank di industri pelumas yang berfungsi menjaga suhu optimal selama proses pencampuran pelumas dengan zat aditif. Seiring berjalannya waktu, material baja karbon pada Steam Coil mengalami degradasi akibat misalignment, paparan suhu tinggi dan lingkungan korosif, sehingga memicu korosi erosi yang berdampak pada penurunan ketebalan pipa. Penelitian ini bertujuan menilai sisa umur pakai (Remaining Life Assessment) Steam Coil yang telah beroperasi selama 15 tahun di fasilitas produksi pelumas Karawang Plant. Metode yang digunakan meliputi pengukuran ketebalan material menggunakan Ultrasonic Thickness Testing (UT) serta analisis laju korosi berdasarkan standar API 570. Pengambilan data dilakukan pada titik-titik tertentu dengan jarak antar titik 300 mm dan empat posisi pengukuran di setiap penampang pipa. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa bagian bawah pipa (Bagian D) mengalami laju korosi tertinggi dan memiliki sisa umur pakai yang singkat yaitu 6,5 tahun, sedangkan bagian atas (Bagian A) memiliki sisa umur lama yaitu 8,5 tahun. Meskipun kondisi Steam Coil secara umum masih layak dioperasikan, beberapa bagian menunjukkan kecenderungan kerusakan lebih cepat dan perlu mendapat perhatian melalui inspeksi dan perawatan berkala. Temuan ini diharapkan dapat menjadi dasar dalam penyusunan strategi pemeliharaan yang lebih tepat sasaran serta mendukung efisiensi operasional dan keselamatan kerja di lingkungan industri pelumas.

The Steam Coil is a crucial component in the heating system of the mixing tank in the lubricant industry, serving to maintain optimal temperatures during the blending process of lubricants and additives. Over time, the carbon steel material of the Steam Coil undergoes degradation due to misalignment, exposure to high temperatures, and corrosive environments, leading to erosion-corrosion that causes pipe wall thinning. This study aims to assess the Remaining Life of a Steam Coil that has been operating for 15 years at the lubricant production facility in Karawang Plant. The methods employed include material thickness measurement using Ultrasonic Thickness Testing (UT) and corrosion rate analysis based on API 570 standards. Data collection was conducted at specific points with 300 mm spacing and four measurement positions around each pipe cross-section. The results indicate that the bottom section of the pipe (Section D) experienced the highest corrosion rate and has the shortest remaining life of 6.5 years, while the top section (Section A) has the longest remaining life of 8.5 years. Although the overall condition of the Steam Coil remains operationally acceptable, certain areas show signs of accelerated damage and require regular inspection and maintenance. These findings are expected to serve as a basis for developing a more targeted maintenance strategy and to support operational efficiency and workplace safety in the lubricant industry.
