Studi kuantitatif ini menyelidiki tantangan yang dihadapi siswa dalam pemahaman membaca, terutama dalam mengidentifikasi gagasan utama dan memahami kosakata. Dilaksanakan di MTsS Darul Ulum Banda Aceh, penelitian ini melibatkan 31 siswa kelas delapan dan menggunakan tes awal, tes akhir, dan kuesioner untuk pengumpulan data. Temuan awal mengungkapkan bahwa banyak siswa kesulitan mengenali gagasan utama dalam teks, sehingga mendorong penerapan metode Collaborative Cross-Text Jigsaw (CCTJ) selama lima pertemuan. Analisis menunjukkan peningkatan yang signifikan dalam kemampuan membaca siswa, dengan nilai korelasi 0,863 dan nilai signifikansi 0,000 yang lebih kecil dari α = 0,05, menunjukkan hubungan positif yang kuat antara hasil pra-tes dan pasca-tes. Respons kuesioner juga menunjukkan bahwa siswa merasa lebih nyaman dan terlibat dalam pembelajaran bahasa Inggris melalui pendekatan CCTJ, yang membantu mereka lebih memahami materi bacaan dan menikmati proses pembelajaran.

Irma Putri Saifani (2025). The Use of Collaborative Cross-Text Jigsaw (CCTJ) In Teaching Reading Comprehension (An Experimental Study at The Eighth-Grade Students of MTsS Darul Ulum Banda Aceh). [Undergraduate Thesis. Universitas Syiah Kuala]. Under the Supervision of Dr. Dian Fajrina, S.Pd., M.Ed and Diana, S.Pd., M.Ed. This quantitative study investigates the challenges students face in reading comprehension, particularly in identifying main ideas and understanding vocabulary. Conducted at MTsS Darul Ulum Banda Aceh, the research involved 31 eighth-grade students and utilized pre-tests, post-tests, and questionnaires for data collection. Initial findings revealed that many students struggled to recognize the main ideas in texts, prompting the implementation of the Collaborative Cross-Text Jigsaw (CCTJ) method over five meetings. The analysis showed a significant improvement in students' reading abilities, with a correlation value of 0.863 and a significance value of 0.000 is less than α = 0.05 , indicating a strong positive relationship between pre-test and post-test results. Questionnaire responses also indicated that students felt more comfortable and engaged in learning English through the CCTJ approach, which helped them better understand reading materials and enjoy the learning process.
