Abstrak
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi permasalahan yang dihadapi guru bahasa Inggris dan solusi yang diterapkan dalam pengajaran di SMP. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode campuran dengan pendekatan kuantitatif melalui kuesioner dan pendekatan kualitatif melalui wawancara. Sampel penelitian melibatkan 32 responden dari 23 SMP. Analisis data dilakukan dengan menggunakan analisis statistik untuk mengolah data kuantitatif dari kuesioner dan analisis tematik untuk memahami data kualitatif dari wawancara. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa guru menghadapi berbagai permasalahan, antara lain keterbatasan buku teks, fasilitas pendidikan yang kurang memadai, tantangan dalam mengembangkan kompetensi, dan perbedaan kemampuan antar siswa. Untuk mengatasi permasalahan tersebut, guru menerapkan berbagai solusi, seperti mencari bahan ajar tambahan, menggunakan fasilitas pribadi, mengikuti pelatihan daring, dan menerapkan pendekatan diferensiasi dalam pengajaran. Simpulan penelitian ini menyoroti pentingnya dukungan yang lebih besar bagi guru dalam bentuk penyediaan fasilitas yang memadai, pengembangan profesional, dan kerja sama dengan orang tua dan masyarakat untuk meningkatkan kualitas pembelajaran bahasa Inggris di SMP.

Abstract This research aims to identify the problems faced by English teachers and solutions applied in teaching in junior high schools. This study uses a mixed method with a quantitative approach through questionnaires and a qualitative approach through interviews. The research sample involved 32 respondents from 23 junior high schools. Data analysis was carried out using statistical analysis to process quantitative data from questionnaires and thematic analysis to understand qualitative data from interviews. The results of the study show that teachers face various problems, including limited textbooks, inadequate educational facilities, challenges in developing competencies, and differences in abilities among students. To address these issues, teachers implement a variety of solutions, such as seeking additional teaching materials, using personal facilities, attending online training, and adopting a differentiated approach in teaching. The conclusion of this study highlights the importance of greater support for teachers in the form of providing adequate facilities, professional development, and cooperation with parents and the community to improve the quality of English language learning in junior high schools.
