Penelitian kuantitatif korelasional ini bertujuan untuk menemukan dan mendeskripsikan korelasi antara keterampilan menyimak mahasiswa (variabel x) dan keterampilan berbicara mereka (variabel y). Penelitian ini dilakukan di Jurusan Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris Universitas Syiah Kuala. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh mahasiswa semester kedua tahun ajaran 2022/2023, dan sampelnya adalah 53 mahasiswa. Instrumen yang digunakan untuk mengumpulkan data adalah dokumentasi nilai menyimak dan nilai berbicara. Skor dari kedua instrumen dihitung dan dianalisis dengan menggunakan metode korelasi Pearson dan juga program Microsoft Excel untuk melihat apakah ada hubungan antara kedua variabel. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ada korelasi sedang, dengan nilai indeks koefisien korelasi sebesar 0,43. Selanjutnya, pengujian hipotesis menunjukkan bahwa nilai indeks jauh lebih tinggi daripada koefisien korelasi indeks Pearson, yang berarti hipotesis alternatif (Ha) diterima dan hipotesis nol (H0) ditolak. Kesimpulannya, ada korelasi antara kedua variabel.

This correlational quantitative research is aimed to find and describe the correlation between students’ listening skill (variable x) and their speaking skill (variable y). This study was conducted at the Department of English Education of Syiah Kuala University. The population in this study was all of the second-semester students in the study year 2022/2023, and the sample was 53 students. The instruments that were used to gather the data were documentation of listening grades and speaking grades. The scores from both instruments were calculated and analyzed by using Pearson’s correlation method and also Microsoft Excel program to see if there was any relationship between the two variables. The result showed that there was a medium correlation, with the index value of correlation coefficient of 0.43. Furthermore, the hypotheses testing showed that index value was much higher than the correlation coefficient of the Pearson’s index, which means that the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted and null hypothesis (H0) was rejected. In conclusion, there is a correlation between the two variables. Keywords: Correlational Study, Listening Skill, Speaking Skill
