Mengidentifikasi pendekatan yang tepat untuk pengajaran menulis di sekolah sangatlah penting, karena diperlukan perhatian terhadap semua aspek menulis. Pengajaran dan pembelajaran kontekstual (CTL) dianggap sebagai pendekatan yang cocokuntuk membantu siswa menghadapi tantangan dalam keterampilan menulis. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji pengaruh penggunaan pendekatan CTL terhadap keterampilan menulis siswa di Madrasah Dayah ‘Ulumul Qur’an (MUQ) Pagar Air, Banda Aceh. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain eksperimen semu dengan dua kelompok sebagai sampel: kelompok kontrol (CG) dan kelompok eksperimen (EG) yang masing-masing berjumlah 20 siswa. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah tes menulis. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuantitatif dalam pengumpulan data dengan memberikan tes sebelum dan sesudah menulis pada kedua kelompok. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penerapan pendekatan pembelajaran kontekstual (CTL) berpengaruh signifikan terhadap keterampilan dan prestasi menulis siswa. Oleh karena itu H0 ditolak dan Ha diterima yang berarti terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan antara rerata skor EG dan CG.

Contextual teaching and learning (CTL) is considered a viable approach for assisting students encountering writing challenges. This research aimed at examining the effect of using the CTL approach on the students’ writing skills at Dayah Madrasah ‘Ulumul Qur’an (MUQ) Pagar Air, Banda Aceh. This research adopted a quasi-experimental design with two groups as samples: the control group (CG) and the experimental group (EG), each of which included 20 students. The instrument used was the writing test. The research employed a quantitative method in collecting the data by administering pre- and post-writing tests to both groups. The results showed that the implementation of the contextual teaching and learning (CTL) approach had a significant effect on the students' writing skills and achievement. Therefore, H0 is rejected and Ha is accepted, which means there is a significant difference between the mean scores of the EG and CG.
