Media pembelajaran memegang peranan penting untuk menunjang proses belajar mengajar. Podcast merupakan salah satu media pengajaran yang dapat digunakan dalam pengajaran bahasa Inggris. Penelitiaj ini bertujuan untuk menguji apakah penggunaan podcast mampu meningkatkan keterampilan mendengarkan siswa. Penelitian ini dilakukan di SMAN 4 Takengon pada siswa kelas X. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan menggunakan penelitian eksperimen dengan desain one group pretest dan posttest. Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah tes. Tes tersebut dalam bentuk pertanyaan esai. Dalam menganalisis data, peneliti menggunakan IBM SPSS versi 25. Dari hasil perhitungan diperoleh nilai rata-rata pretest siswa sebesar 46,27 dan nilai rata-rata posttest sebesar 70,64. Selain itu diperoleh t-skor sebesar 3,374 dan t-tabel sebesar 2,036. Artinya hipotesis alternatif (Ha) diterima dan nol hipotesis (Ho) ditolak. Kesimpulannya, penggunaan podcast mempunyai dampak positif terhadap peningkatan keterampilan mendengarkan siswa.

Learning medium plays an important role to support the process of teaching and learning. Podcast is one of teaching medium that can be used in teaching English. This study aims to examine whether the use of podcast is able to improve students' listening skill. This research was conducted at SMAN 4 Takengon on the tenth-grade students. It used the quantitative approach using the experimental study with one group pretest and posttest design. The research instrument used in this study was test. It was in the form of essay questions. In analyzing the data, the researcher used IBM SPSS 25 versions. From the calculation results show that the mean score of students' pretest was 46,27 and the mean score of posttest was 70,64. In addition, it was found the t-score was 3.374 and the t-table was 2.036. It means that the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted and the null hypothesis (Ho) is rejected. In conclusion, using podcast has a positive impact on the improvement of students' listening skill. Keywords: Listening skill, Media, Narrative text, Podcast
