Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah penggunaan Charades game dapat meningkatkan kosakata siswa dalam pemahaman membaca pada siswa kelas dua di SMP Negeri 16 Banda Aceh pada tahun ajaran 2023/2024. Penelitian ini menggunakan jenis penelitian pre-eksperimental dengan desain on group pre-test post-test. Sampel penelitian ini adalah tes dengan 20 soal pilihan ganda. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan menggunakan pre-test post-test. Peneliti menganalisis hasil data dengan menggunakan rumus statistik. Hasil analisis data menunjukkan rata-rata nilai pre-test siswa sebesar 58,04%, sedangkan setelah menggunakan Charades game rata-rata nilai siswa meningkat menjadi 77,32% pada post-test. Hasil analisis data juga menunjukkan bahwa t-hitung (11,611) lebih besar dari t-tabel (2,055), sehingga Ha diterima dan Ho ditolak. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa terdapat hasil yang signifikan dari menggunakan Charades game dalam meningkatkan kosakata siswa kelas dua di SMP Negeri 16 Banda Aceh.
This study aims to find out whether the use of the Charades game can increase students' vocabulary in reading comprehension at second grade students of SMP Negeri 16 Banda Aceh in the 2023/2024 academic year. This study used a pre-experimental research with one group pre-test post-test design. The research sample was selected using purposive sampling with 28 students from a total population of 108 students. The instrument of this study was a test with 20 multiple-choice questions. The data was collected by using pre-test and post-test. The researcher analyzed the result of data using statistical formula. The result of the data analysis showed that the students' average score of pre-test is 58,04%, while after using the Charades game, the students average score increases to 777,32% in post-test. The result of data analysis also showed that the t-count (11,611) was higher that the t-table (2,055), so Ha was accepted an Ho was rejected. It revealed that there are significant results using the Charades game in increasing students' vocabulary at second grade students of SMP Negeri 16 Banda Aceh.
