Penelitian kualitatif deskriptif ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui jenis-jenis speaking anxiety dan dominan jenis speaking anxiety yang dialami mahasiswa Jurusan Bahasa Inggris di Universitas Syiah Kuala serta faktor-faktor yang menyebabkan mahasiswa Jurusan Bahasa Inggris memiliki speaking anxiety dalam presentasi proposal seminar. Data dalam penelitian ini diperoleh dari mahasiswa Jurusan Bahasa Inggris yang melakukan presentasi proposal seminar. Data penelitian ini dikumpulkan melalui lembar observasi, angket, dan wawancara. Data dianalisis dengan menggunakan persentase dan transkrip nilai untuk mengetahui jenis-jenis kecemasan berbicara dan jenis kecemasan berbicara dominan yang dialami oleh Mahasiswa Jurusan Bahasa Inggris Universitas Syiah Kuala, serta faktor-faktor penyebabnya. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa ada tiga jenis kecemasan berbicara yang dialami oleh mahasiswa Jurusan Bahasa Inggris di Universitas Syiah Kuala, yaitu kecemasan tes, ketakutan komunikasi, dan ketakutan evaluasi sedangkan jenis kecemasan berbicara yang paling dominan yang mereka alami adalah kecemasan tes. Selain itu, ada juga tiga faktor yang menyebabkan mahasiswa Jurusan Bahasa Inggris di Universitas Syiah Kuala mengalami kecemasan berbicara saat pemaparan proposal seminar yaitu takut melakukan kesalahan, kurang pengetahuan, dan kurang percaya diri.

This descriptive qualitative research is aimed to find out the types of speaking anxiety and the dominant type of speaking anxiety which experienced of English Department students at Syiah Kuala University as well as the factors that cause English Department students have speaking anxiety in the presentation of seminar proposal. The data in this study was obtained from English Department students' who conducted presentation of seminar proposal. The data of this research were gathered through observation sheet, questionnaire, and interview. The data was analysed by using percentages and transcripts in order to know the types of speaking anxiety and the dominant type of speaking anxiety that experienced by English Department Students at Syiah Kuala University, also the factors that cause it. The result of this research showed that there were three types of speaking anxiety experienced by English Department students at Syiah Kuala University, namely test anxiety, communication fear, and fear of evaluation. In contrast, the most dominant type of speaking anxiety they experienced was test anxiety. In addition, there were also three factors that caused English Department students at Syiah Kuala University have speaking anxiety during the presentation of the seminar proposal that were fear of making mistakes, lack of knowledge, and lack of self-confidence.
