Rendahnya kemampuan penalaran matematis siswa bisa disebabkan oleh beberapa faktor, salah satunya yaitu dikarenakan model/pendekatan pembelajaran yang kurang tepat dalam proses pembelajaran. Oleh karena itu, penggunaan Pendekatan Pendidikan Matematika Realistik Indonesia (PMRI) diharapkan dapat meningkatkan kemampuan penalaran matematis siswa dalam menyelesaikan permasalahan matematika. Pendekatan ini dapat diterapkan pada pembelajaran matematika khususnya pada materi volume kubus dan balok yang diterapkan melalui Pendekatan PMRI di SMPN 6 Banda Aceh. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan jenis penelitian yang digunakan ialah true experimental design dengan desain posttest only control design. Populasi penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas VIII SMPN 6 Banda Aceh yang terdiri dari 7 kelas. Pengambilan sampel kelas dilakukan secara acak dan diperoleh kelas VIII-1 sebanyak 25 orang, sebagai kelas eskperimen dan kelas VIII-3 sebanyak 25 orang, sebagai kelas kontrol, dan sebelumnya dari kedua kelas tersebut sudah diuji dengan tes awal untuk melihat bahwa kemampuan kedua kelas tersebut sama. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah tes. Instrumen penelitian berupa soal uraian Volume Kubus dan Balok yang terdiri atas 4 soal. Pengujian hipotesis dilakukan menggunakan uji t, dengan taraf signifikan =5%. Hasil pengujian diperoleh t_hitung=2,127. Berdasarkan tabel distribusi t yaitu t_tabel=2,010. Sesuai dengan kriteria pengujian H_0 ditolak dan H_A diterima jika t_hitung>t_tabel. Karena t_hitung>t_tabel maka keputusannya H_0 ditolak. Berdasarkan keputusan tersebut maka kesimpulannya adalah terdapat pengaruh positif pendekatan matematika realistik indonesia (PMRI) terhadap kemampuan penalaran matematis siswa kelas VIII SMPN 6 Banda Aceh pada materi volume kubus dan balok.

The data collection technique used in this study is a test. The research instrument was a description of the volume of cubes and blocks consisting of 4 questions. Hypothesis testing was carried out using the t test, with a significant level = 5%. The test results obtained t_count = 2.127. Based on the t distribution table, namely t_table=2.010. According to the test criteria H_0 is rejected and H_A is accepted if t_count>t_table. Because t_count>t_table, the decision H_0 is rejected. Based on this decision, the conclusion is that there is a positive influence of the Indonesian realistic mathematics approach (PMRI) on the mathematical reasoning abilities of class VIII students of SMPN 6 Banda Aceh on the volume of cubes and blocks
