Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui apakah penerapan Teknik Make a Match berpengaruh terhadap penguasaan kosakata siswa pada kelas 2 SMAN Trumon Tengah. Penelitian ini menggunakan penelitian kuantitatif dan rancangan eksperimen yang fokus pada pre-eksperimen dengan satu kelompok pre-test dan post-test. Penelitian ini dilakukan dalam lima kali pertemuan termasuk pre-test dan post-test. Sampel penelitian ini terdiri dari 22 siswa, dengan 10 perempuan dan 12 laki-laki. Data penelitian dikumpulkan dengan menggunakan pre-test dan post-test. Dari hasil tes dengan menggunakan rumus yang diadaptasi oleh Arikunto (2010) menunjukkan bahwa nilai rata-rata siswa pada pre-test adalah 53,00, sedangkan nilai rata-rata siswa pada post-test adalah 70,09. Hasil tersebut menunjukkan bahwa terjadinya peningkatan dari pre-test ke post-test, karena nilai rata-rata siswa pada post-test setelah diberikan beberapa perlakuan menggunakan Teknik Make a Match meningkat 17,09 poin. Selain itu, hasil analisis data menunjukkan bahwa nilai signifikan adalah .000, yaitu kurang dari 0,05, dapat disimpulkan bahwa hipotesis alternatif diterima. Dengan demikian, penerapan Teknik Make a Match berpengaruh terhadap penguasaan kosakata siswa.
The purpose of this study was to find out whether the implementation of Make a Match Technique affects the students’ vocabulary mastery at second grade of SMAN Trumon Tengah. This research used quantitative research and applied experimental design that focused on pre-experimental with one group pre-test and post-test. It was carried out in five meetings including pre-test and post-test. The sample of this research consists of 22 students, with 10 females and 12 males. The data were collected by using pre-test and post-test. From the result of the test by using formula adapted by Arikunto (2010) showed that the mean score of students in pre-test was 53.00 while the mean score of students in post-test was 70.09. This result showed that there was an improvement from pre-test to post-test, because the mean score of students in post-test after giving several treatments using Make a Match Technique increased 17.09 points. In addition, the result of data analysis showed that the significant value was .000, which was less than 0.05, it can be concluded that the alternative hypothesis was accepted. Thus, the implementation of Make a Match Technique affects the students’ vocabulary mastery.
