Penelitian deskriptif dengan pendekatan kualitatif bertujuan untuk mengetahui apa saja kesulitan dalam menyelesaikan soal fisika berbasis High Order Thinking Skilss (HOTS) pada siswa SMA NEGERI 2 Kluet Utara. Sampel pada penelitian ini adalah siswa SMA NEGERI 2 Kluet Utara yang berjumlah 30 orang. Pengumpulan data penelitian diperoleh melalui metode tes dan wawancara. Pengolahan hasil penelitian dan analisis daya menggunakan persamaan persentase. Hasil analisi tersebut menyimpulkan bahwa kesulitan yang dialami siswa dalam menyelesaikan soal yaitu kesulitan memvisualisasikan masalah, kesulitan deskripsi fisika, kesulitan rencana solusi, kesulitan menajalankan rencana, dan kesulitan memeriksa dan mengevaluasi.

Descriptive research with a qualitative approach aims to find out what are the difficulties in solving physics problems based on High Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) for students of SMA NEGERI 2 Kluet Utara. The sample in this study were students of SMA NEGERI 2 Kluet Utara, totaling 30 people. Collecting research data obtained through the method of tests and interviews. Processing of research results and power analysis using the percentage equation. The results of the analysis concluded that the difficulties experienced by students in solving problems were the difficulty of visualizing the problem, the difficulty of physics description, the difficulty of planning a solution, the difficulty of carrying out the plan, and the difficulty of checking and evaluating.
