Companies have a responsibility to protect the surrounding environment through social and environmental programs. This responsibility is often referred to as Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). Basically, CSR is conducted in the economic sphere. However, in the case of ExxonMobil Indonesia in North Aceh in 2000, CSR played a role as a means to treat the impact of the crimes against humanity that has been perpetrated by the party that is affiliated with ExxonMobil Indonesia in North Aceh. This research aims to explain the role of CSR programs to the impact of crimes against humanity, and ExxonMobil's CSR experience in dealing with those impacts. This research uses normative research methods that using library research to get information, citing and analyzing data that mostly discusses on the benefits in applying CSR programs to recover the impacts of crimes against humanity committed by the party that is affiliated with the company. The results showed that the role of CSR for the remedy of affected people in crimes against humanity case can be taken by corporate citizenship, which is a narrow concept of CSR, followed with the respect to the international standards and guidance of CSR. By implementing the corporate citizenship, ExxonMobil, in this case, can imply it with the exact program. In this matter, the program is Operations Integrity Management System (OIMS), which is a self-regulatory framework for maintaining Safety, Health, and Environmental (SHE) standards that in line with ISO 14001 and ISO 26000 guidelines. Therefore, this research suggests the company to collaborate more with other institutions, especially public institutions and government, also relevant stakeholders to provide help through their CSR programs, especially public institutions and government. In addition, it also suggests the company to improve their community involvement through CSR programs and comply it with civil and political rights as well as the positions of vulnerable groups.
