Title : The Students’ Strategies Used in Writing Narrative Text
By Second Grade Students of MTsN Rukoh Banda Aceh
Writing may be considered as the most difficult and complicated skill among the four language skills. Nevertheless, it should be mastered by Junior High School students. The aim of this research is to investigate the strategies used by the students in writing. The objectives of this research are to find out strategies used by the students in writing narrative text and the dominantly used strategy in writing narrative text. This research was conducted at second year in MTs Negeri Rukoh. The population was 148 students. Then, the researcher used purposive sampling in deciding the students as research subject and the students’ strategies in writing narrative text as research object. The sample of this research is 29 students from higher achievement level. The reason for choosing this subject based on the purpose because only this class that has higher achievement students and they know more than one strategy in writing. Based on questionnaire, the researcher got the data about which strategy is more dominant than the other strategies that used by students in writing. The table shows about 17.24% of the student use modeling strategy. Those who use picture sequence strategy is about 48.28% of the students and the last strategy is webbing strategy about 34.48% of the students. From the percentage above shows that the picture sequence strategy is dominated by students. It is most useful and can help them to write a good story.
