ABSTRACT
The preliminary design of chitosan plant provided is using chemical method with shrimp shells, NaOH, and HCl as raw materials. NaOH and HCl is obtained from PT.Bintang Mitra, and shrimp shells is obtained from PT.Dua Putra Utama Makmur and other shrimp processing plant. The raw material capacity of this plant is 42800 ton/year with work days of 330 days/year. The production amout is 9880,118 ton/year. The form of this company is Limited Liability Company (Ltd) and using structur of line and staff method, with total of manpower 130 people. The factory location was planned Ni Purworejo,Pati Sub-district, Pati Regency, Central Java with area of 67.388 m2. Water demand of this factory is supplied from Juwana river in Pati with total water demand of 1.162.390,64 kg/hour, and electricity demand of 2,1 MW.
From economic analysis, it was obtained:
Fixed Capital Investment = Rp 1.263.418.899.519
Working Capital Investment = Rp 221.393.498.747
Total Capital Investment = Rp 1.484.812.398.268
Total production Cost = Rp 8.307.858.848.183
Sales = Rp 8.523.888.701.293
Net Profit = Rp 4.266.386.983.168
Pay Out Time (POT) = 4,7 years
Break even Point (BEP) = 37,39 %
Internal Rate of Return (IRR) = 51%%

ABSTRAK
Prarancangan pabrik kitosan ini menggunakan metode pengunaan baahn kimia dengan bahan baku kulit udang, NaOH dan HCl. NaOH dan HCl dipeoleh dari PT. Bintang Mitra sementara kulit udang diperoleh dari PT. Dua Putra Utama Makmur dan perusahaan pengolahan udang lainnya. Kapasitas bahan baku pabrik ini adalah 42800 Ton/Tahun dengan hari kerja 330 hari/tahun dan menghasilkan produk sebanyak 9880,18 ton/tahun. Bentuk perusahaan yang direncanakan adalah Perseroan Terbatas (PT) dengan menggunakan metode struktur garis dan staf. Kebutuhan tenaga kerja untuk menjalankan perusahaan ini berjumlah 130 orang. Lokasi pabrik direncanakan didirikan di Purworejo, Kecamatan Pati, Kabupaten Pati, Jawa Tengah, dengan luas tanah 67.388 m2. Sumber air pabrikini berasal dari Sungai Juwana, Kabupaten Pati, Jawa Tengah dengan total kebutuhan air sebesar 1.162.390,64 kg/jam, dan kebutuhan listrik sebesar 2,1 MW.
Hasil analisa ekonomi yang diperoleh adalah sebagai berikut :
