Students’ Reading Comprehension
(An Experimental Study at Second Grade of SMPN 9 Banda
Aceh)


Key word : Reading Comprehension, Two Stay Two Stray Technique.

This study is aimed at finding out whether the Two Stay Two Stray Technique improves
the students’ reading comprehension at the second grade of SMPN 9 Banda Aceh or not.
The researcher used pre-experimental research with one group pre-test and post-test
design. The aspects covered are main idea, detail information, reference and vocabulary.
Instrument used was reading test. In analyzing the data, the writer used statistical
formula. The finding shows that the mean score in the post-test was higher than in pretest.

The higher aspect was main idea (25 Point). In the pre-test the mean score was
44.75, and in the post-test was 77.69. Furthermore, t-test was 4.212 and t-table was
2.069. The significant level used in this study was 0.05. The value of t-test was higher
than t-table (4.212 ? 2.069), H

was rejected. Based on the result of
this research, it can be concluded that teaching reading by using Two Stay Two Stray
Technique can improve the students’ reading comprehension. Two Stay Two Stray
Technique can be one of the alternative techniques in teaching Reading skill.
