Counter Mode with Cipher Block Chaining Message Authentication Code Protocol
(CCMP).
CCMP mampu mencapai total throughput sebesar 55.90 Mbps, jauh mengungguli

Network security is a crucial aspect of wireless communication systems as threats to data confidentiality increase. To address these risks, encryption protocols such as the Temporal Key Integrity Protocol (TKIP) and Counter Mode with Cipher Block Chaining Message Authentication Code Protocol (CCMP) are used. Although both protocols are designed to secure networks, there are significant differences in their architecture and performance efficiency. This study aims to analyze and compare the performance of TKIP and CCMP through simulations using Network Simulator 3 (NS 3). Testing was conducted under a 100 Mbps load scenario to evaluate throughput, latency, and packet loss parameters, and to verify encryption effectiveness through packet analysis. The simulation results show that the WPA2-CCMP protocol has a significant performance advantage over WPA-TKIP. Under peak load conditions, CCMP achieved a total throughput of 55.90 Mbps, significantly outperforming TKIP, which experienced saturation at 25.02 Mbps. In terms of latency, CCMP recorded an average delay of 1.84 seconds, lower than TKIP’s 3.56 seconds. Furthermore, packet sniffing analysis validated that both protocols effectively encapsulate the payload, leaving IP and port information unreadable (plaintext). This study concluded that WPA2-CCMP provides an optimal balance between security and performance, and is therefore recommended as a mandatory standard for modern wireless networks, while TKIP is no longer suitable for use on high-traffic networks.
