Tujuan utama dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menguji apakah penggunaan aplikasi Memrise dapat meningkatkan retensi kosakata siswa kelas delapan di SMP Negeri 4 Montasik. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengatasi masalah umum di mana siswa merasa sulit untuk mengingat kata-kata bahasa Inggris baru dalam jangka waktu yang lama. Peneliti bertujuan untuk menunjukkan bahwa alat pembelajaran digital dapat menjadi solusi yang efektif bagi siswa di lingkungan sekolah pedesaan. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan desain pra-eksperimental, khususnya model pre-test dan post-test. Sampel dari penelitian ini adalah 18 siswa kelas delapan di SMP Negeri 4 Montasik. Peneliti menggunakan tes kosakata sebagai instrumen untuk mengukur daya ingat siswa sebelum dan sesudah perlakuan (treatment). Perlakuan dilakukan dalam tiga sesi, di mana aplikasi Memrise digunakan sebagai alat utama untuk belajar. Aplikasi tersebut membantu siswa melatih kosakata melalui fitur repetisi dan permainannya. Data kemudian dianalisis menggunakan perangkat lunak statistik untuk melihat peningkatan dan signifikansi hasil. Hasil awal menunjukkan bahwa banyak siswa mengalami kesulitan dalam menghafal dan mempertahankan kata-kata bahasa Inggris dalam ingatan mereka. Namun, setelah tiga sesi menggunakan Memrise, analisis statistik menunjukkan peningkatan yang signifikan pada kinerja siswa. Nilai korelasi adalah 0,727, yang menunjukkan hubungan positif yang kuat antara skor pre-test dan post-test. Selain itu, nilai signifikansi adalah 0,001, yang lebih rendah dari \alpha = 0,05. Temuan ini membuktikan bahwa aplikasi Memrise efektif dalam membantu siswa meningkatkan retensi kosakata mereka.

This study was conducted to address a common problem where students find it difficult to remember new English words for a long time. The researcher aimed to show that a digital learning tool can be an effective solution for students in a rural school setting. This research used a quantitative approach with a pre-experimental design, specifically the pre-test and post-test model. The sample of this study were 18 eighth-grade students at SMP Negeri 4 Montasik. The researcher used vocabulary tests as the instrument to measure the students' memory before and after the treatment. The treatment was carried out in three sessions, where the Memrise application was used as the main tool for learning. The application helped students practice vocabulary through its repetition and game features. The data were then analyzed using statistical software to see the improvement and the significance of the results. The initial results showed that many students had difficulties in memorizing and keeping English words in their memory. However, after the three sessions of using Memrise, the statistical analysis showed a significant improvement in students' performance. The correlation value was 0.727, which indicates a strong positive relationship between the pre-test and post-test scores. Furthermore, the significance value was 0.001, which is lower than ɑ = 0.05. These findings prove that the Memrise application is effective in helping students improve their vocabulary retention. Keywords: Memrise Application, Speaking, Vocabulary Retention.
