Kosakata memiliki peran yang sangat penting dalam pembelajaran bahasa Inggris, khususnya bagi peserta didik usia dini yang membutuhkan metode pembelajaran yang visual dan menarik. Di SDN Lhok Seumelu, peserta didik mengalami kesulitan dalam penguasaan kosakata akibat keterbatasan paparan bahasa Inggris serta penggunaan metode pembelajaran yang masih bersifat konvensional. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah penerapan Picture Word Inductive Model (PWIM) dapat meningkatkan penguasaan kosakata peserta didik kelas V secara signifikan. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan desain pra-eksperimen berupa one-group pre-test post-test design. Sampel penelitian terdiri atas 21 peserta didik kelas V-A SDN Lhok Seumelu pada tahun ajaran 2025/2026. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya peningkatan yang signifikan pada skor kosakata peserta didik setelah penerapan PWIM. Nilai rata-rata meningkat dari 59,05 pada pre-test menjadi 83,81 pada post-test. Uji paired sample t-test menunjukkan nilai signifikansi (2-tailed) sebesar 0,000, lebih kecil dari taraf signifikansi 0,05, yang mengindikasikan adanya perbedaan yang signifikan antara hasil pre-test dan post-test. Dengan demikian, hipotesis alternatif (Ha) diterima dan hipotesis nol (H₀) ditolak. Berdasarkan hasil tersebut, dapat disimpulkan bahwa PWIM merupakan model pembelajaran yang efektif dalam meningkatkan penguasaan kosakata peserta didik, karena menyediakan dukungan visual, mendorong partisipasi aktif, serta membantu pemahaman dan daya ingat kosakata baru.

Vocabulary plays a crucial role in English learning, especially for young learners who benefit from visual and engaging instructional methods. At SDN Lhok Seumelu, students were found to struggle with vocabulary due to limited exposure and conventional teaching approaches. This study aimed to determine whether the Picture Word Inductive Model (PWIM) could significantly improve fifth-grade students’ vocabulary mastery. This research employed a quantitative approach using a pre-experimental, one-group pre-test post-test design. The sample consisted of 21 students from Class 5A at SDN Lhok Seumelu in the 2025/2026 academic year. The findings show a clear improvement in students’ vocabulary scores after the implementation of PWIM. There was an increase in the mean score, from 59.05 in the pre-test to 83.81 in the post-test. The paired sample t-test revealed the significance level (2-tailed) was .000, which is lower than the 0.05 threshold, indicating a statistically significant difference between the two tests. These results confirm that the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted and the null hypothesis (H0) is rejected. The study concludes that PWIM is an effective instructional model for enhancing young learners’ vocabulary mastery, as it provides visual support, encourages active participation, and facilitates better comprehension and recall of new words.
