Negara yang menganut paham demokrasi menjadikan pemilihan umum sebagai standar
dijadikannya sebuah demokrasi. Hal ini dikarenakan oleh dalam pelaksanaan pemilihan
umum terdapat gambaran partisipasi dan aspirasi masyarakat. Indonesia sebagai negara
majemuk terdiri dari banyak identitas, ras, suku dan budaya, memiliki problematika
berupa isu politik identitas yang sering terjadi dalam pelaksanaan pemilihan umum.
Salah satunya Provinsi Aceh yang merupakan provinsi dengan data BPS 2024
menyatakan lebih dari 97% penduduk masyarakat Aceh beragama Islam, sehingga
praktik politik identitas memiliki potensi yang besar dalam memenangkan kandidat
dalam pemilihan umum. Maka dengan latarbelakang identitas keagamaan Islam di
Aceh menarik untuk dikaji lebih jauh dinamika Pilkada di Aceh. Tujuan dari penelitian
ini untuk melihat bagaimana kondisi politik pilkada aceh dan perkembangan politik
identitas itu sendiri. Penelitian ini menggunakan teori politik identitas Pierre Van Den
Bergh dan memakai metode kualitatif dalam penelitiannya. Hasil penelitian
menunjukkan bahwa terdapat kondisi politik yang didasari oleh dinamika politik lokal
dan sikap politik masyarakat aceh serta adanya perkembangan politik di Aceh.
Perkembangan politik di Aceh cukup jauh perjalanannya, namun hal yang berbau
politik di identitas sangat melekat apalagi pasca adanya otonomi kekhususan yakni
lahirnya politik lokal di Aceh. Maka polemik pemilihan gubernur aceh 2024 lalu
dibedakan cara kampanye politik oleh kandidat baik nomor urut 1 maupun nomor urut
2 memiliki potensi kemenangan, namun masyarakat Aceh lah yang menentukan
kemenangan atas suara-suara mereka.

In Countries that adhere to democracy consider general elections as the standard for establishing a democracy. This is because the implementation of general elections reflects public participation and aspirations. Indonesia, as a pluralistic nation comprised of many identities, races, ethnicities, and cultures, faces the problem of identity politics, which frequently occurs in general elections. One example is Aceh Province, with 2024 BPS data stating that more than 97% of the Acehnese population is Muslim. Therefore, the practice of identity politics has significant potential to influence candidates' victory in general elections. Therefore, with the background of Islamic religious identity in Aceh, it is interesting to further examine the dynamics of the Aceh regional elections. The purpose of this study is to examine the political conditions of the Aceh regional elections and the development of identity politics itself. This study uses Pierre Van Den Bergh's theory of identity politics and employs qualitative methods in its research. The results show that there are political conditions based on local political dynamics and the political attitudes of the Acehnese people, as well as political developments in Aceh. Political development in Aceh has come a long way, but the political elements of identity are very inherent, especially after the introduction of special autonomy, namely the birth of local politics in Aceh. Thus, the controversy surrounding the 2024 Aceh gubernatorial election was characterized by the political campaign methods employed by both candidates, with both candidates number 1 and number 2 having the potential to win, but it was the Acehnese people who determined victory through their votes.
