Penelitian ini menguji efektivitas penggunaan ESLPOD (English as a Second Language Podcast) dalam mengajarkan pemahaman menyimak kepada siswa kelas dua di SMPIT Nurul Fikri, Aceh Besar. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain pra-eksperimental dengan pendekatan kuantitatif, khususnya menggunakan model pre-test dan post-test satu kelompok. Sebanyak 20 siswa berpartisipasi dalam penelitian ini. Sebelum perlakuan, pre-test diberikan untuk menilai tingkat pemahaman mendengarkan awal siswa. Kemudian, para siswa dipaparkan pada serangkaian episode audio ESLPOD selama beberapa sesi sebagai perlakuan. Setelah perlakuan, post-test dilakukan untuk mengukur peningkatan keterampilan mendengarkan mereka. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan peningkatan yang signifikan pada skor post-test siswa, yang menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan ESLPOD memiliki efek positif pada pemahaman mendengarkan mereka. Berdasarkan temuan tersebut, dapat disimpulkan bahwa mengintegrasikan podcast seperti ESLPOD ke dalam proses pembelajaran bahasa Inggris dapat menjadi metode yang efektif untuk meningkatkan kemampuan menyimak siswa.

Under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Sofyan, M.A., and Dr. Siti Sarah Fitriani, S.Pd, M.A. This research examines the effectiveness of using ESLPOD (English as a Second Language Podcast) in teaching listening comprehension to second-grade students at SMPIT Nurul Fikri, Aceh Besar. The study employs a pre-experimental design with a quantitative approach, specifically utilizing a one-group pre-test and post-test model. A total of 20 students participated in the study. Before the treatment, a pre-test was administered to assess the students’ initial listening comprehension level. Then, the students were exposed to a series of ESLPOD audio episodes over several sessions as the treatment. After the treatment, a post-test was conducted to measure any improvement in their listening skills. The results showed a significant increase in the students' post-test scores, indicating that the use of ESLPOD had a positive effect on their listening comprehension. Based on the findings, it can be concluded that integrating podcasts like ESLPOD into the English learning process can be an effective method to enhance students' listening abilities.
