ABSTRACT Deby Yunda Riza. (2025). The Impact of Digital Storytelling on Improving Students' Writing Skill Recount Text (An Experimental Research of Second Grade at SMPN 8 Banda Aceh). [Undergraduate Thesis.Universitas Syiah Kuala]. Under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Asnawi, S.Pd., M.Ed. and Nira Erdiana, S.Pd., M.Pd. This study investigates the effect of using digital storytelling as a teaching method to improve students’ writing skills in recount texts of the second-grade students SMPN 8 Banda Aceh in the 2024/2025 academic year. The research focuses on three key aspects of writing: content, organization, and grammar. The study adopts a pre-experimental design, employing a one-group pre-test and post-test model. The sample of this study was class VIII-4 consisting of 32 students chosen by using the purposive sampling technique. The research instrument consisted of pre-test and post-test, designed to evaluate the students’ abilities in the targeted writing aspects. The data were analysed using mean and t-test and some statistical formulas. The data analysis showed that the student's average score on the pre-test was 41,2, while after using digital storytelling, the student's average score increased to 64,5 in the post-test. The result of data analysis also showed that the t-score (14.47) was higher than the t-table (2,040), so Ha was accepted and Ho was rejected. The data indicated that digital storytelling effectively enhances writing skills, with the most significant improvement in content, then grammar, followed by organization. The study concludes that digital storytelling is a valuable method for improving students’ writing abilities and recommends its wider application in English language teaching. Keywords: Digital Storytelling, Writing Skill, Recount Text
