Salah satu tuntutan keterampilan abad-21 yang harus dikuasai oleh seorang guru adalah mampu membuat alat evaluasi yang berkualitas, terutama dalam pembelajaran kimia. Salah satu cara yang dapat dilakukan guru untuk memenuhi tuntutan tersebut adalah dengan mendesain soal yang mampu membuat peserta didik berpikir kritis dan kreatif melalui soal berformat four tier multiple choice (FTMC). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis tingkat pemahaman peserta didik kelas XI MIPA-4 SMA Negeri 2 Banda Aceh pada materi laju reaksi dengan menggunakan instrumen berupa soal berformat FTMC. Pendekatan yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah kualitatif dan kuantitatif dengan menggunakan jenis penelitian deskriptif. Subjek penelitian ini adalah peserta didik kelas XI MIPA-4 yang berjumlah 35 orang yang terdiri dari 23 orang perempuan dan 12 orang laki-laki, serta 2 orang guru mata pelajaran kimia. Teknik pengumpulan data diperoleh dengan meggunakan tes berupa soal pilihan ganda berformat FTMC, wawancara, angket respon peserta didik, dan angket respon guru. Instrumen dalam penelitian ini adalah lembar soal tes FTMC, lembar pertanyaan wawancara, lembar angket respon peserta didik, dan lembar angket respon guru. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis menggunakan rumus excel dan persentase. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pemahaman konsep peserta didik menggunakan tes FTMC yang dikategorikan paham konsep 54,5%, tidak paham konsep 2,4%, miskonsepsi 35,5% dan error 7,6%. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa tingkat pemahaman peserta didik pada kelas XI MIPA-4 SMA Negeri 2 Banda Aceh masih dikategorikan sedang (kurang) dalam memahami konsep. Angket respon peserta didik dan guru terhadap penggunaan tes FTMC dalam menganalisis tingkat pemahaman peserta didik diperoleh rata-rata persentase berturut-turut adalah 46% dengan kategori kurang dan 85% dengan kategori baik. Simpulan dari penelitian ini adalah instrumen test diagnostic FTMC dapat digunakan untuk menganalisis pemahaman konsep peserta didik pada materi laju reaksi.

One of the demands of 21st-century skills that a teacher must master is to be able to make quality evaluation tools, especially in chemistry learning. One way that teachers can meet these demands is by designing questions that are able to make students think critically and creatively through questions in a four-tier multiple choice (FTMC) format. This study aims to analyze the level of understanding of students in class XI MIPA-4 SMA Negeri 2 Banda Aceh on reaction rate material using an instrument in the form of FTMC format questions. The approach used in this study is qualitative and quantitative using the type of descriptive research. The subjects of this study are 35 students of class XI MIPA-4 consisting of 23 women and 12 men, as well as 2 chemistry teachers. The data collection technique was obtained by using tests in the form of multiple-choice questions in the FTMC format, interviews, student response questionnaires, and teacher response questionnaires. The instruments in this study are FTMC test question sheets, interview question sheets, student response questionnaires, and teacher response questionnaires. The data obtained was analyzed using excel formulas and percentages. The results of the study showed that the students' concept understanding using the FTMC test was categorized as conceptual understanding of 54.5%, non-conceptual understanding of 2.4%, misconception of 35.5% and error of 7.6%. This shows that the level of understanding of students in class XI MIPA-4 SMA Negeri 2 Banda Aceh is still categorized as medium (lacking) in understanding concepts. The questionnaire of students' and teachers' responses to the use of the FTMC test in analyzing the level of understanding of students obtained an average of 46% with the poor category and 85% with the good category, respectively. The conclusion of this study is that the FTMC test diagnostic instrument can be used to analyze students' understanding of concepts in reaction rate materials.
