Since there have not been numerous research conducted in Banda Aceh related to the correlation between vocabulary and reading comprehension, the researcher deliberately decided to do this research. This research aimed to find out if there is any correlation between the students' vocabulary knowledge and reading comprehension outcome. It was conducted to 28 second grader students of MTsN 4 Banda Aceh. It was taken from VIII-2 class that chosen randomly from the entire population. The research focused on the correlation between students' vocabulary knowledge that emphasized on nouns, verbs, adjectives, and reading comprehension that emphasized on finding main idea, finding detail information, and interpreting vocabulary of descriptive text. This research applied the quantitative correlational research which took a look at the correlation between two variables. There were two tests in this research, they were vocabulary test and reading comprehension test. The mean score of the vocabulary test was 93.96. It was in a very good category. Meanwhile, the mean score of the reading comprehension test was 70.11. It was in a good category. However, the result of this research showed a low correlation between the two variables since the coefficient correlation score was 0.29.
