Matematika memiliki peranan penting dalam berbagai aspek kehidupan, namun matematika masih dipandang sebagai mata pelajaran yang sulit dan rumit, akibatnya siswa mudah menyerah sebelum mempelajari matematika sehingga hasil belajar matematika siswa masih rendah. Hal ini disebabkan kurangnya interaksi antar siswa dengan guru dan siswa dengan siswa, sehingga siswa menjadi pasif selama proses pembelajaran berlangsung. Oleh karena itu, perlu adanya strategi pembelajaran dalam proses pembelajaran yaitu dengan menerapkan strategi learning starts with a question. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui hasil belajar siswa yang mengikuti pembelajaran dengan strategi learning starts with a question di SMP Negeri 1 Banda Aceh. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan jenis true experimental design, dengan desain penelitian pre-test post-test control group design. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di SMP Negeri 1 Banda Aceh. Sampel dalam penelitian ini dipilih secara random sampling dan terambil IX_5 sebagai kelas eksperimen dan IX_7 sebagai kelas kontrol. Instrument yang digunakan berupa soal tes hasil belajar. Data pada penelitian ini dianalisis dengan menggunakan statistik uji-t independent sample t-test. Berdasarkan hasil analisis penelitian yang dilakukan hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa hasil belajar siswa melalui strategi Learning Starts with a Question lebih baik daripada hasil belajar siswa yang diajarkan melalui pembelajaran konvensional di SMP Negeri 1 Banda Aceh.

Mathematics has an important role in various aspects of life, but mathematics is still seen as a difficult and complicated subject, as a result students easily give up before studying mathematics so that students' mathematics learning outcomes are still low. This is due to a lack of interaction between students and teachers and students with students, so that students become passive during the learning process. Therefore, it is necessary to have a learning strategy in the learning process, namely by implementing a learning strategy starting with questions. The purpose of this research is to determine the learning outcomes of students who take part in learning using the start with a question learning strategy at SMP Negeri 1 Banda Aceh. This research uses a quantitative approach with a true experimental design type, with a pre-test post-test control group design research design. This research was carried out at SMP Negeri 1 Banda Aceh. The sample in this study was chosen by random sampling and taken IX_5 as the experimental class and IX_7 as the control class. The instrument used is a test of learning outcomes. The data in this study were analyzed using the independent sample t-test statistical test. Based on the results of the research analysis carried out, the results of this research show that student learning outcomes through the Learning Starts with a Question strategy are better than student learning outcomes taught through conventional learning at SMP Negeri 1 Banda Aceh.
