Penelitian ini melihat bagaimana respon siswa di MTSN 2 Banda Aceh terhadap penggunaan teknik meja bundar untuk mengajar menulis teks recount serta dampaknya terhadap kemampuan mereka menulis teks recount yang lebih baik. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian eksperimental sejati, dan sampelnya terdiri dari dua kelas: kelas eksperimen yang berjumlah 27 siswa, dan kelas kontrol yang berjumlah 34 siswa. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah pre-test dan post-test yang dianalisis menggunakan SPSS 20. Setelah dilakukan penerapan teknik roundtable, diperoleh hasil bahwa terdapat peningkatan yang signifikan pada rata-rata skor post-test (84) dibandingkan dengan skor pre-test ( 41). Selain itu, respon siswa menunjukkan positif terhadap teknik meja bundar. Sebagian besar siswa setuju bahwa penerapan teknik meja bundar dalam pengajaran menulis membantu mereka menulis. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa penerapan teknik meja bundar berhasil meningkatkan kemampuan menulis siswa.
This study looked at how students at MTSN 2 Banda Aceh responded to using the roundtable technique to teach writing recount texts as well as the impact it had on their ability to write better recount texts. This study was a true-experimental research, and the sample consisted two classes: experimental class, which had 27 students, and control class, which had 34 students. The instrument used was the pre-test and post-test that were analyzed using SPSS 20. After implementation the roundtable technique, the result showed that there were significant improvement in the average post-test score (84) than the pre-test score (41). Moreover, the students'’ showed positive responses toward the roundtable technique. Most of the students agree that the implementation of the roundtable technique in teaching writing helped them write. It can be concluded that, the implementation of roundtable technique successfully improved students writing.
