Penelitian ini berjudul “Peran Teungku Haji Ahmad Hasballah Indrapuri Dalam Reformasi Sistem Pendidikan Islam Di Aceh Besar (1922-1959)”, Adapun tujuan dalam penelitian ini ialah (1) Untuk mengetahui riwayat hidup Teungku Haji Ahmad Hasballah Indrapuri (2) Untuk mengetahui peran dan pemikiran Teungku Haji Ahmad Hasballah dalam reformasi pendidikan Islam di Aceh Besar. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan jenis penelitian sejarah (historis). Adapun teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan cara wawancara, dokumentasi, serta studi kepustakaan. Sumber-sumber yang digunakan meliputi sumber primer dan sekunder, sumber primer diperoleh dari hasil wawancara dan dokumen, sumber sekunder diperoleh dari buku, jurnal, skripsi, berita, majalah, dan artikel yang berkaitan dengan Teungku Haji Ahmad Hasballah Indrapuri. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian maka dapat diketahui bahwa: (1) Teungku Haji Ahmad Hasballah Indrapuri terjun menjadi ulama tidak lepas dari peran keluarga dan kerabatnya sebagai ulama, kegigihannya dalam melakukan perjuangan reformis sitem pendidikan Islam di Aceh Besar karena pada saat itu keadaan Aceh Besar dilanda perang dengan Belanda situasi yang tidak stabil tersebut membuatnya terbiasa dengan ide-ide anti kolonial. (2) Peran Teungku Haji Ahmad Hasballah Indrapuri Langkah pertama yang dilakukan oleh Ahmad Hasballah dalam memodernis sistem pendidikan Islam adalah menentukan arah dan tujuan pembelajaran pendidikan dayah dan ia mengambil fokus pendidikan pada takhassus (spesialisasi) bidang pemantapan iman dan ibadah. kemudian memperbaiki sistem belajar yang dimulai dengan mendirikan Madrasah Al-Hasbiyyah untuk pelajar laki-laki, dan Madrasah Lil Ummahat untuk pelajar perempuan.

This research is entitled "The Role of Teungku Haji Ahmad Hasballah Indrapuri in the Reform of the Islamic Education System in Aceh Besar (1922-1959)", The objectives of this study are (1) To find out the life history of Teungku Haji Ahmad Hasballah Indrapuri (2) To find out the role and thoughts of Teungku Haji Ahmad Hasballah in the reform of Islamic education in Aceh Besar. This research uses a qualitative approach with a type of historical research. The data collection techniques are carried out by means of interviews, documentation, and literature studies. The sources used include primary and secondary sources, primary sources obtained from interviews and documents, secondary sources obtained from books, journals, theses, news, magazines, and articles related to Teungku Haji Ahmad Hasballah Indrapuri. Based on the results of the study, it can be seen that: (1) Teungku Haji Ahmad Hasballah Indrapuri plunged into becoming a cleric inseparable from the role of his family and relatives as a cleric, his persistence in carrying out the reformist struggle of the Islamic education system in Aceh Besar because at that time the situation of Aceh Besar was hit by war with the Dutch the unstable situation made him accustomed to anti-colonial ideas. (2) The role of Teungku Haji Ahmad Hasballah Indrapuri in modernizing the Islamic education system is to determine the direction and learning objectives of dayah education and he takes the focus of education on takhassus (specialization) in the field of strengthening faith and worship. then improved the learning system which began with establishing Madrasah Al-Hasbiyyah for male students, and Madrasah Lil Ummahat for female students.
