This research is an analysis of illocutionary acts performed in Prince Harry’s interview on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. The interview was discussed about Prince Harry’s newly launched memoir book, Spare. This research aimed to find out the types of illocutionary acts performed in Prince Harry’s utterances in the interview. Moreover, this research also aimed to find out the dominant illocutionary acts used by Prince Harry in his interview. This research used a qualitative method with a descriptive analysis design. The data source of this research was collected by downloading the video of the interview from YouTube. The data were transcribed into text form. Furthermore, the data were identified and classified into types of illocutionary acts based on Searle’s classification. Finally, the data were presented into percentage form of illocutionary acts. The result of this research showed that there were four types of illocutionary acts which are performed by Prince Harry in his interview; assertives (83%), expressives (10%), directives (6%), and commissives (2%). The dominant illocutionary acts used is assertive illocutionary acts with 52 utterances. Assertive acts used by Prince Harry mostly are in the form of explaining. The result showed that Prince Harry tended to convey his utterances to explain his opinion or thoughts about the things that he believed to be true.
