Learning vocabulary in the target language is still difficult for most foreign language students. From the various previous studies showed that student encountered various problems or difficulties in learning English vocabulary. The present study aims to examine whether the use songs is able to improve students’ engagement in learning English vocabulary. This research used the quantitative approach with pre-experimental design. The sample of this research is VIII-B students with total 21 students at SMP N 1 Ingin Jaya, Aceh Besar. Meanwhile, the research instrument used to obtain the data in this study through a set of tests (pretest and posttest), the test that was given on pretest and posttest was multi-choice and it’s divided to guess the pictures, fill the blanks, and translation, while for the treatments the researcher used fill the blank technique to answer the questions. From the result of the vocabulary test based on formula from Sudijono (2006) showed that the avarage pretest score is 40.00, meanwhile the avarage for posttest score is 76.67. In addition, it can be concluded that the use of English songs can improve the vocabulary of students' at SMP N 1 Ingin Jaya. Keywords: English songs, Vocabulary, Engagement
