Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis jenis pelanggaran maksim yang dilakukan oleh tokoh dalam film Contagion. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif. Data dikumpulkan dari ucapan-ucapan dalam film. Data dianalisis dan dikategorikan berdasarkan jenis pelanggaran maksim menurut teori prinsip kerja sama Grice. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa maksim kuantitas dilanggar sebanyak 27 (32,1%) kali, maksim kualitas dilanggar sebanyak 22 (26,2%) kali, maksim relasi dilanggar sebanyak 19 (22,7%). kali, dan maksim manner dilanggar sebanyak 16 (19%) kali. Berdasarkan frekuensi maksim yang dilanggar dalam film, maksim kuantitas merupakan maksim yang paling sering dilanggar, diikuti oleh maksim kualitas, maksim relasi, dan maksim yang paling sedikit dilanggar dalam film adalah maksim manner. Kesimpulannya, keempat jenis maxim dilanggar dalam film Contagion. Studi lebih lanjut tentang pelanggaran maksim disarankan memperluas fokus penelitian ke lebih dari sekedar jenis pelanggaran maksim.

This research aims to analyze the types of flouting maxim performed by the character in the Contagion movie. This research used a descriptive qualitative approach. The data were collected from the utterances in the movie. The data were analyzed and categorized based on the type of flouting maxim by Grice’s cooperative principle theory. The results of this research show that the maxim of quantity was flouted 27 (32,1%) times, the maxim of quality was flouted 22 (26,2%) times, the maxim of relation was flouted 19 (22,7%) times, and the maxim of manner was flouted 16 (19%) times. Based on the frequency of maxim flouted in the movie, the maxim of quantity is the most frequently flouted maxim, followed by the maxim of quality, the maxim of relation, and the least maxim flouted in the movie is the maxim of manner. In conclusion, all-four types of the maxim are flouted in the Contagion movie. Further studies on the flouting maxim are suggested, expanding the focus of the study to more than just the type of flouting maxim.
