Abstract Name : Siti Rahmah Dewi Student No. : 19062020200020 Study Program : Master Degree in English Education Department : English Education Title : An Analysis of Flipped Learning Model in Teaching Speaking (A Case Study at SMA Methodist Banda Aceh) Keywords: Flipped Learning Model; English Speaking Classroom; SMA Methodist Banda Aceh; Instructional Video; Distance Education The present research discuss the analysis of Flipped Learning Model (FLM) in teaching English speaking classes as well as describing the teacher’s obstacles in using the model along with their solutions to the problems. The qualitative approach was employed in this case study. Two English teachers at SMA Methodist Banda Aceh were selected as the participants. The data were collected via observations and interviews. The results show that: (1) The analysis of FLM in teaching speaking at SMA Methodist Banda Aceh is considered in good criteria. Based on the observations and interviews, the teachers have acquired some experiences using the flipped learning model. (2) The obstacles were faced by the teachers divided into substantial, technical and content-related issues. In substantial problem, students were not given any feedback by the teacher. The technical issues include the students' difficulty accessing the Internet. The contentrelated issues include the students' tendency to skip several parts. (3) The teachers come up with the solution to the problems experienced. For feedback issue, the teacher conducted collaborative the students such as peer assessment, discussion and presentation. Regarding the technical obstacles, both teachers have tried to remind their students earlier ask them to download so they can watch it offline later on. Their solution to the content-related problem is to evaluate and upgrade the whole learning processes and learning materials. This research is expected to provide useful knowledge and insight to other researchers and teachers who are interested in EFL teaching innovation and look for effective speaking classroom implementation.
