Penelitian ini berusaha untuk mengkaji masalah apakah model Modified Free Inquiry efektif terhadap kemampuan kognitif siswa dalam pembelajaran Fisika.. Hipotesis yang diajukan adalah model Modified Free Inquiry efektif terhadap kemampuan kognitif siswa dalam pembelajaran Fisika. Tujuan untuk mengetahui model Modified Free Inquiry efektif terhadap kemampuan kognitif siswa dalam pembelajaran Fisika. Hasil penelitian diharapkan menjadi rujukan untuk memperbaiki proses pembejaran pada masa yang akan datang. Pelaksanaan kegiatan mengunakan pendekatan kuantitatif. Jenis penelitian Quasi Experimental Design, desaian penelitian Nonequivalent Control Group. Populasi penelitian ini seluruh siswa kelas X IPA MAN 2 Lhokseumawe. Sampel penelitian diperoleh melalui teknik purposive sampling. Kelas X IPA 3 dipilih sebagai kelas eksperimen dan kelas X IPA 4 sebagai kelas kontrol. Jumlah siswa sama pada kedua kelas, yaitu berjumlah 25 orang. Data adalah hasil belajar yang diperoleh melalui ujian pretest dan posttest. Instrumen penelitian adalah perangkat pembejaran yang terdiri dari RPP, LKPD, dan soal ujian pretest dan posttest. Hasil perhitungan uji-t, diperoleh nilai thitung = 2,10. Pada taraf signifikan = 0,05 dan derajat kebebasan (dk) = (n1 + n2 – 2), nilai ttabel = 1,67. Nilai thitung > ttabel, maka diterima Ha, sehingga terdapat perbedaan hasil belajar siswa secara signifikan antara kelas perlakuan dengan kelas kontrol. Karena rata-rata hasil posttest dari kelas eksperimen lebih tinggi, maka disimpukan model Modified Free Inquiry Inquiry efektif terhadap kemampuan kognitif siswa dalam pembelajaran Fisika

This study seeks to examine the problem of whether the Modified Free Inquiry model is effective on students' cognitive abilities in learning Physics. The hypothesis proposed is that the Modified Free Inquiry model is effective on students' cognitive abilities in learning Physics. The aim is to find out the Modified Free Inquiry model is effective on students' cognitive abilities in learning Physics. The results of the study are expected to be a reference to improve the learning process in the future. Implementation of activities using a quantitative approach. The type of research is Quasi Experimental Design, the research design is Nonequivalent Control Group. The population of this study were all students of class X IPA MAN 2 Lhokseumawe. The research sample was obtained through purposive sampling technique. Class X IPA 3 was chosen as the experimental class and class X IPA 4 was the control class. The number of students is the same in both classes, which is 25 people. Data are learning outcomes obtained through pretest and posttest exams. The research instrument is a learning device consisting of lesson plans, LKPD, and pretest and posttest test questions. The results of the t-test calculation, obtained the value of tcount = 2.10. At the significant level = 0.05 and degrees of freedom (dk) = (n1 + n2 – 2), the value of ttable = 1.67. The value of tcount > ttable, then Ha is accepted, so that there is a significant difference in student learning outcomes between the treatment class and the control class. Because the average posttest result from the experimental class is higher, it can be concluded that the Modified Free Inquiry Inquiry model is effective on students' cognitive abilities in learning Physics.
