Anorectal atresia is a congenital absence of the anus. It is a birth defect in which the rectum is malformed. Anorectal atresia is the cause of 10% neonatal intestinal obstruction and become one of the top 10 causes of intant mortality in the world. Anorectal atresia has an estimated incidence of 1:4000 – 1:5000 births and occurs with a ratio of male and female 1,5:1.
