Penelitian tentang kajian habitat peneluran penyu alami dan persepsi masyarakat terhadap pelestarian penyu bertujuan untuk mengetahui kajian habitat peneluran penyu terkait dengan karakteristik bio-fisik pantai secara alami dan persepsi masyarakat terhadap pelestarian penyu di kawasan Pantai Lhoknga dan Pantai Syiah Kuala. Metode yang digunakan adalah survey explorati dan Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA). Pengambilan sampel dilakukan dari bulan Desember 2020 - Februari 2021. Hasil penelitian ditemukan dua jenis penyu yang melakukan aktivitas peneluran yaitu penyu belimbing (Dermochelys coriacea) dan penyu lekang (Lepidochelys olivaceae). Karakteristik biologi yang ditemukan di Pantai Lhoknga terdiri dari 8 spesies tumbuhan dan 4 spesies predator, sedangkan di Pantai Syiah Kuala terdiri dari 3 spesies tumbuhan dan 2 spesies predator. Analisis karakteristik fisik Pantai Lhoknga terdiri dari suhu pasir dengan rata-rata berkisar antara 28,25 ± 0,45 - 28,76 ± 0,57 oC, kelembaban pasir 44% ± 0,09 - 52% ± 0,09, lebar pantai 15,35 ± 4,77 m - 27,49 ± 4,02 m, kemiringan pantai 1,68 ± 0,53° - 4,41 ± 0,98° (katagori landai) dan di dominasi sedimen pasir dengan ukuran sedang, sedangkan pada Pantai Syiah Kuala rata-rata suhu pasir berkisar antara 28,57 ± 0,56 - 29,13 ± 0,67 °C, kelembaban pasir 40% ± 0,11 - 53% ± 0,09, lebar pantai 14,83 ± 5,06 m - 25,06 ± 3,52 m, kemiringan pantai 2,19 ± 0,53° - 3,94 ± 1,40° (katagori landai) dan di dominasi sedimen pasir dengan ukuran sedang. Persepsi masyarakat pada Kawasan Pantai Lhoknga di Desa Mon Ikeun Kabupaten Aceh Besar secara keseluruhan tergolong baik dengan nilai 3,77 dan Pantai Syiah Kuala Desa Deah Raya tergolong cukup dengan nilai 3,48.

Research on the study of natural turtle nesting habitats and public perceptions of turtle conservation aims to determine the study of turtle nesting habitats related to the natural bio-physical characteristics of beaches and public perceptions of turtle conservation in the Lhoknga Beach and Syiah Kuala Beach areas. The methods used are exploratory surveys and Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA). Sampling was carried out from December 2020 - February 2021. The results of the study found that two types of turtles were laying eggs, namely leatherback turtles and olive ridley turtles. The biological characteristics of Lhoknga Beach found 8 species of plants and 4 species of predators, while Syiah Kuala Beach found 3 species of plants and 2 species of predators. Analysis of the physical characteristics of Lhoknga Beach consisted of an average sand temperature ranging from 28.25 ± 0.45 - 28.76 ± 0.57°C, sand humidity 44% ± 0.09 - 52% ± 0.09, beach width 15, 35 ± 4.77 m - 27.49 ± 4.02 m, beach slope 1.68 ± 0.53° - 4.41 ± 0.98° (sloping category) and dominated by sandy sediments of medium size, while at Syiah Kuala Beach the average sand temperature ranged from 28.57 ± 0.56 - 29.13 ± 0.67 °C, sand humidity 40% ± 0.11 - 53% ± 0.09, beach width 14.83 ± 5.06 m - 25.06 ± 3.52 m, beach slope 2.19 ± 0.53° - 3.94 ± 1.40° (sloping category) and dominated by sandy sediments of medium size. Public perception of the Lhoknga Beach area in Mon Ikeun Village, Aceh Besar District as a whole is classified as good with a score of 3.77 and Syiah Kuala Beach in Deah Raya Village is quite adequate with a score of 3.48.
