Latar Belakang : Deteksi dini kesehatan gigi penting dilakukan untuk menghindari komplikasi dari karies lanjut. World Health Organization (WHO) 2017 menyatakan karies gigi sebagai kondisi patologis dalam rongga mulut yang paling umum terjadi pada 60-90% anak usia sekolah yang dapat mempengaruhi kualitas hidup anak dan keluarganya. Penerapan teledentistry merupakan cara efektif untuk deteksi karies gigi dan di masa pandemi COVID-19 sangat bermanfaat bagi semua kalangan dengan tujuan untuk menghindari kontak langsung dengan pasien.Tujuan : Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan deteksi dini karies gigi anak melalui screening menggunakan mobile phone teledentistry dalam menentukan kebutuhan perawatan. Metode : Teknik yang digunakan pada penelitian ini menggunakan metode purposive sampling. Jumlah subjek pada penelitian ini sebanyak 124 mahasiswa yang terdiri dari 60 Laki-laki dan 64 Perempuan. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan pengambilan foto klinis intraoral menggunakan smartphone untuk mengetahui hubungan deteksi dini karies gigi anak melalui screening menggunakan mobile phone teledentistry dengan penentuan kebutuhan perawatan pada Program Studi Pendidikan Dokter Gigi Universitas Syiah Kuala. Background : Early detection of dental health is important to avoid complications from advanced caries. The World Health Organization (WHO) 2017 states dental caries as a pathological condition in the oral cavity that most commonly occurs in 60-90% of school-age children which can affect the quality of life of children and their families. The application of teledentistry is an effective way to detect dental caries and during the COVID-19 pandemic it is very beneficial for all people with the aim of avoiding direct contact with patients. Objective: This study aims to determine the relationship between early detection of dental caries in children through screening using mobile phone teledentistry in determine treatment needs. Method : The technique used in this research is purposive sampling method. The number of subjects in this study were 124 students consisting of 60 male and 64 female. This research was conducted by taking intraoral clinical photos using a smartphone to determine the relationship between early detection of dental caries in children through screening using mobile phone teledentistry and determining treatment needs at the Dental Education Study Program at Syiah Kuala University.
