This study intended to  find out  the influence of teacher toward students’ motivation &#13;
in learning English and how the teacher’s competence influence the students’ &#13;
motivation in learning English.  In this study, the writer  used survey research.The &#13;
population of this study was all of the third grade students of SMAN 9 Banda Aceh, &#13;
while the samples were the students of class 31A-1 which consists of 24 students. &#13;
The research instrument carried out in this study was the questionnaires adopted &#13;
from Zhao (2011) which consists of 5 questions. The kind of questionnaire which &#13;
was used in this study close and open questionnaire. The result of this study shows &#13;
that teacher’s competence (personality, cognitive, affective, and psychomotor) &#13;
enhance students’ motivation in learning English. The goals of this study is hopefully&#13;
beneficial for both teacher and students. Firstly, the teacher will know the strategies&#13;
that can be used to motivate students in learning English . Secondly,  the students will &#13;
be aware of teacher in influencing their motivation in learning English. Thus, teacher &#13;
is as an external factor influence students’ motivation in learning English.</note>
