ABSTRAK

Penelitian ini berjudul “Stereotip Mahasiswa Aceh Terhadap Gaya Komunikasi Mahasiswa Asal Medan”. Penelitian ini memiliki tujuan untuk menjelaskan bagaimana stereotip mahasiswa USK asal Aceh terhadap gaya komunikasi mahasiswa USK asal Medan dan untuk menjelaskan bagaimana faktor yang membentuk stereotip mahasiswa asal Aceh terhadap gaya komunikasi mahasiswa asal Medan. Penelitian ini menggunakan teori behaviorisme untuk mengetahui bagaimana stimulus yang di berikan oleh komunikator mempengaruhi tindak balas dari komunikan. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif dengan pendekatan deskriptif. Tehnik pengambilan informan menggunakan tehnik purposive sampling dimana informan dipilih berdasarkan kriteria. Informan dalam penelitian ini berjumlah 10 orang dengan 7 informan kunci dan 3 informan pendukung, informan kunci merupakan mahasiswa yang berasal dari Aceh yang menumpuh pendidikan di kampus USK, informan pendukung merupakan 3 mahasiswa Medan yang menempuh pendidikan di kampus USK. Hasil penelitian ini adalah stereotip terbentuk oleh informasi awal yang mahasiswa Aceh miliki, dari lingkuang perteman, lingkungan keluarga, dan televisi. Stereotip terhadap mahasiswa Medan mengalami perubahan setelah berinteraksi dan berkomunikasi langsung dengan mahasiswa Medan. Perubahan arah stereotip mahasiswa Medan dari negatif ke positif yaitu mahasiswa Medan merupakan orang yang mudah bergaul dan pertemanannya sangat terbuka, bahkan mereka sering menjadi pihak yang membuka percakapan.

ABSTRACT This research is entitled "Stereotypes of Aceh Students Against the Communication Style of Students from Medan". This study aims to explain how the stereotypes of USK students from Aceh are on the communication styles of USK students from Medan and to explain how the factors that shape the stereotypes of USK students from Aceh on the communication styles of USK students from Medan. This study uses behaviorism theory to find out how the stimulus given by the communicator affects the response of the communicant. This study uses a qualitative research method with a descriptive approach. Informant retrieval technique uses purposive sampling technique where the informants are selected based on criteria. The informants in this study were 10 people with 7 key informants and 3 supporting informants, the key informants were students from Aceh who studied at the USK campus, the supporting informants were 3 Medan students who studied at the USK campus. The result of this study is that stereotypes are formed by the initial information that Aceh students have, from the circle of friends, family environment, and television. Stereotypes of Medan students have changed after interacting and communicating directly with Medan students. the change in the direction of the stereotype of Medan students from negative to positive, namely Medan students are easy-going people and very open friendships, in fact they are often the party who opens the conversation.
