 <note>This  research  is about  &quot;The  Use of Short  English  Folklore  through  Storytelling in Teaching Speaking&quot;.   It  is a descriptive qualitative research  which  was  held  at of SMPN  8 Banda Aceh.  The purposes  of this study were to describe  how the teacher used  short  English  folklore through  in  teaching  speaking,  and  also  to know  what were the student's responses  after they are taught speaking  by the teacher  using short English  folklore  through  storytelling. To  achieve  the  objectives 3of the study,  the researcher  conducted   a  descriptive  qualitative   research.   The  population  of this research  was the third year students  of SMPN  8 Banda  Aceh,  and the  sample  was students  in class  IX,1.  In collecting  the data, the researcher used some  instruments such as observation  item and questionnaire item. The obtained  data were presented  in words  explaining  about the process of learning  English  using short English  folklore. In doing  observation, the researcher  observed  the classroom  situation while  teacher teaching  English  by using short English  folklore  in speaking class. Furthemore, the questionnaire was  analyzed   by using  Percentage   formula  The  result  showed  that using short English folklore made students  motivated  in learning speaking  and it was also one of the interesting ways for students  in developing  their speaking  skill.</note>
