In Indonesian Education system, Speaking is taught as one of the four skills in English at any level schools. Especially in Vocational High School (SMK), speaking is important in learning English because it the curriculum states that the students have to be able communicate by using English in the certain level (novice, elementary and intermediate). Students find several problems in learning speaking. First, students have not motivation. Second, students are not confident. The last, classroom are dominated by few students. This study is aimed to briefly concise some theories about the jigsaw technique in teaching speaking in vocational high school. Based on the curriculum, this method related to the basic competency in the topic of describing things, people, objects, profession and nationalities. And it is learnt in the Novice level at the first semester in the first grade class. This study uses library research method since the data needed and collected in the form of statements and theories suggested by the experts particularly those theories related to the jigsaw technique in teaching English speaking class. Technique can help the teacher to overcome the students' problem in speaking and improve the students' performance especially in speaking about description something or place.
